This internship provides teaching and facilitation training and the opportunity to implement these skills within our programming. Arts in Health Interns explore arts education specialized for the medical setting with focuses on specific art forms, techniques, and methods while prioritizing accessibility.
When interns volunteer onsite, they work directly with the young people and families receiving care at our partnering hospitals and clinics. In addition to specialized training and professional development opportunities, responsibilities and projects may include co-leading lessons, independent facilitation (group and one-on-one), lesson preparation, and lesson and resource development, among others. Interns only work in one assigned chapter and are not asked to travel between chapters.
Academic year interns apply for either one or two semesters (see specific chapter information for hours commitment per chapter. In addition to set programmatic learning goals, each Arts in Health Intern works with their supervisor to set learning goals specific to their professional goals.
Arts in Health Interns are required to apply and be accepted to volunteer at their chapter’s hospital following their acceptance into the internship program. Any hospital Volunteer or Orientation counts towards internship hours and must be completed prior to involvement within Arts For Life programming.

Please note, Arts in Health Internships focus on facilitating accessible arts-based educational experiences within the healthcare setting. We do not offer clinical practicums and our programming cannot be logged as therapy hours.
